What is Interlibrary Loan?
The Interlibrary Loan (ILL) Department provides Bucknell students,
faculty and staff with materials not owned by the Bertrand Library,
but needed for research. Requests to borrow books or obtain copies of
periodical articles are made from other, cooperating libraries or commercial
document delivery suppliers.
What is ILLIAD? ILLiad is the name of the software that we use to process and track ILL requests. Use ILLiad
to place all Interlibrary Loan requests. ILLiad first-time users must
register before submitting a request. In order for us to obtain material
in a time frame that is useful to you, it is important to indicate the
"need no later than" date on the form. Also, please provide all available
information about the material, including where the citation was found.
Because materials requested via ILL may take up to two weeks to obtain,
the readily available resources of the Bertrand Library should be investigated
first. A reference librarian is always available for consultation research
needs.
Many items can be obtained RUSH, some within 24 hours. Please contact
Candice Hinckley at 570-577-3249.
What is E-ZBorrow?
It is a way to quickly find and borrow books from many academic library catalogs in Pennsylvania.
Bucknell students, faculty, and staff can check E-ZBorrow to request a book not owned by the Bertrand Library. Because E-ZBorrow is a direct method to obtain books
and is not mediated by staff, it is generally faster than going through traditional interlibrary loan. E-ZBorrow used to be known as PALCI (Pennsylvania Academic Libraries Connection Initiative) and can be used only for books.

NOTICE: Concerning Copyright Restrictions
Submission of this form indicates that the requester agrees to abide by
the fair use guidelines of the copyright law.
The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code)
governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted
material. Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and
archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction.
One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction
is not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship,
or research." If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy
or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use," that user may be
liable for copyright infringement. This institution reserves the right
to refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgment, fulfillment of
the order would involve violation of copyright law.
