LaFayette Butler Fountain
Lawn Library Collection
Professor of English Literature, trained pianist, writer
of scholarly reviews, poet, and generous philanthropist, Lafayette Butler
donated over 2,500 volumes, and 6 linear feet of major Anglo-Irish manuscript
collections to the Ellen Clarke Bertrand Library. These materials were
part of Mr. Butler's renowned Fountain Lawn Library which he made available
to scholars in the United States and abroad. Bucknell University conferred
the honorary Doctorate of Laws degree upon LaFayette L. Butler in 1962.
